KURSK REGION INDUSTRY
Kursk region is one of the industrially developed regions of Russia. The share of industry is 35.1% in the structure of gross product of Kursk region. Industry of the region is represented by 15 branches, where are concentrated to 25% of fixed assets of the region, it employs more than one third of employees in the branches of material production. The decisive role in the economic complex of the industry is played by electric power, mining, engineering, metalworking, food industries.
The largest industrial centers are the city of Kursk, Zheleznogorsk, Kurchatov, Rylsk, Lgov, Sudzha and Shchigry.
Specific weight in the structure of industrial production is 24.9%. The industry employs 19,700 people.
The fuel and energy complex of Kursk regionis represented by "Kursk Nuclear Power Plant", which is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom"; by "Kurskenergo", which is a branch of PJSC "IDGC Centre", by Chernozem Trunk Power Grid Company, which is a branch of OAO" UES FGC "; by “Kursk generation", which is a branch of PJSC" Quadra "; by JSC Gazprom gas distribution "Kursk"; by "Kursk linear production department of main gas pipelines", which is a branch of LLC"Gazprom Transgaz Moscow" .
The total amount of generating capacity of the Kursk power system is 4280 MW. The energy potential of the region determines the Kursk nuclear power station with a capacity of 4000 MW. Electricity production of Kursk nuclear power station in 2015 amounted to 29.7 billion kw-hr, which is the highest result of electricity generation in the company's history.
An advanced network of 110-750 kv voltage transmission lines connects Kursk NPP and enterprises of "Kurskenergo" with the energy systems of the regions of Central Federal District.
The project of the Master plan of location of objects of electric power in Russia envisages the construction of 4 power units of"Kursk NPP – 2".
Commissioning of the first two units is expected in 2022 and 2023 respectively in order to replace the blocks №1 and №2 of Kursk NPP.
During the period from 2013 to 2015, 5.6 bln. rub were spent on the site of the Kursk NPP-2 .
The main period of construction of power units №1 and №2 of the replacement station is planned for 2016-2022.
The energy saving program is being implemented on the territory of Kursk region since 2002.
The share of industrial production in the region is 18.3%.
8800 people are employed in the industry.
The second largest mining company in Russia, JSC "Mikhailovsky GOK" is situated in Kursk region.
During the period of 2007-2015, the investment project "Construction of the technological complex and infrastructure of the roasting machine №3" was implemented at the Mikhailovsky GOK. At the end of September 2015, the object was put into operation, which would allow the company to increase the production of the most sought type of the product, pellets, one and a half times, or 5 million tons per year. The project investments amountedto more than 16 bln.rub.
The share is 56.8%.
The share of mechanical engineering, instrument making and metalworking in the manufacturing sector is19%. 20 thousand people work in these industries.
The leading machine-building enterprises: JSC "Aviaavtomatika" named after V.V. Tarasov, JSC" Electroagregat", JSC" Kursk Accumulator Plant", JSC" Energoteks ", LLC" Kursk Accumulator Plant ", JSC" Geomash" produce a wide range of high-tech products, including the means of mobile power, generators, geological exploration and oil field equipment, computer equipment, low-voltage equipment, equipment for the nuclear industry, batteries, etc.
Chemical production and manufacture of rubber and plastic products.
The share in the manufacturing sector is 21.9%.
The industry employs about 7700 people.
The largest enterprises are: JSC "Pharmstandard-Leksredstva", producing over 120 types of medicines, which belong to the 25 main pharmacotherapeutic groups; JSC "Kurskrezinotekhnika" - the main producer of rubber and steel cord conveyor belts, high pressure hoses, molded and non-molded rubber products for various purposes; Kursk branch "Biaksplen" LLC, which produces polypropylene fabric for packaging of industrial and food products; LLC "Kurskhimvolokno" producing synthetic fibers, textile, technical yarns, cord nylon fabric.
Pulp and paper industry, wood processing and production of wood.
The share in manufacturing is 5.1%.
3700 people are employed in the industry.
The leading companies are: the group of companies "GOTEK", one of the largest manufacturers of packaging products in Russia; JSC "Izoplit", producer of fibreboard of different variety; a group of companies "Factory printing and packaging" - the manufacturer of printing and packaging products.
The share in manufacturing is 2.9%.
6500 people are employed in the industry.
The largest enterprises are: LLC PA Concern "Kursktrikotazhprom" - manufacturer of semi-woolen and bulk yarn, upper and knitted underwear; JSC "Factory of technical fabrics" - producing technical fabrics intended for the production of conveyor belts, filter cloth and other products; "KurskObuv" LLC, making school and children's shoes.
Innovation - Technology Center of Light Industry Development in conjunction with the "Faith Geppe" Fashion House develop for mass production, industrial collection of children's, school and corporate clothing, and other knitted garments, compare favorably with those on the consumer properties and the price of foreign counterparts.
Food and processing industry
In 2015, food and processing industry of the region continued its dynamic development.
In the course of the activities of the Comprehensive Program of development of food processing industry in 2011- 2017 and the implementationof the Plan on import substitution in 2015,6.4 billion rubles were invested, more than 420 workplaces were created in the food sector of economics.
A range of products has become wider. More than 200 new products were developed during the reporting period.
The volume of shipped goods of own production, works and services amounted to 66.6 billion rubles in 2015, which is 14 billion rubles, or 1.3 times more than the 2014 level, and 14 times more than in 2000.
In the manufacturing sector, the share of industry increased from 40 percent in 2014 up to 47 percent in 2015.
In 2015, in comparison with 2014, the production of main food items was increased:
-meat and specialty meats by 1.3 times;
-pork meat, including specialty meatsby 1.3 times;
-poultry meat and offal by 1.3 times;
-sausage by 13%;
-meat products by 1.3 times;
-smoked fish by 1.3 times;
-dairy products by 1.5 times;
-cheeses by 1.9 times;
-butter by 2.1 times;
-canned fruits and vegetables by 17%;
-vegetable oil by 0.4%;
-flour by 11%;
-pasta by 22%;
-animal feed by 9%;
-malt by 1.2 times;
-ethyl alcohol, rectified from food raw materials by 1.2 times;
-mineral water by 9%;
In the meat processing industry, "White Bird – Kursk" meat and poultry factory worked at full capacity andin 2015 produced 84% of the regional volume of poultry meat production.
In Kursk region, the new meat-processing complex "Polyanskoe”, with the capacityof livestock slaughter 320 heads per shift, has started to work.
Have been upgraded and are increasing the production volumes existing meat processing companies: JSC "Hope" and CJSC "Sudzhansky meat-prosessing plant" of Sudzhansky district; Ltd."Pselskoe" of Belovo district; Ltd." Podlesnoe" of Kursk district; Ltd. "Krivetsky Sausages" of Manturovsky district.
As a result, in 2015 the production of beef and pork in the area has increased by 1.3 times and amounted to 188 thousand tons; of poultry meat by 1.3 times and amounted to 137 thousand tons; sausages by 13% (12.6 tons), semifinished products - 1.3 times (98.9 thousand tons).
As part of the import substitution, work on modernization of the dairy industry is underway, with the installation of new lines for the production of butter, cheese, whole milk products (JSC "Kursk milk"; a branch of "Kursk milk” -"Rylsky cheese-maker"; LLC "Cheese Valley").
In 2015, compared to 2014, the procurement of milk increased by 29 percent.
6.9 thous. tons of butter were produced with an increase of 2.1 times, cheese -5.1 thous. tons with an increase of 1.9 times, milk products in milk equivalent - 47.2 thous. tons with an increase of 1.5 times - up to 50%.
Measures are being taken to further develop grain processing industry.
The LLC "Kurskzernoprom" (Cheremisinovo village) (the managing company "ParitetInvest") were modernized and enlarged production capacity of buckwheat 2 times - up to 25 thousand tons per year.
Workshop for the processing of oilseeds were put into operation in Sudzhansky (LLC "Agrosil") and Belovsky (LLC "Pselskoe") districts.
JSC "Kursk Bakery" modernized the manufacture and increased production capacity to 40 thousand tons of flour per year.
The following enterprises of animal feed industry are increasing the production volume: "Agropromkomplektatsiya-Kursk" Ltd. (Konyshevka village); JSC "Shchigry GPP"; JSC "Hope".
In 2015, the animal feed production in the region increased by 9 percent and amounted to 656 thousand tons; production of flour - 10 per cent and amounted to 216 thousand tons.
Bakeries of Kursk regionhave produced over 77 thousandtons of bakery products, the range of which includes more than 1,500 items. This allows not only to providethe population of Kursk region bythese products in full, but also to ship it to other regions.
In order to further ensure the high level of competition in the bread market, in almost all enterprises of the baking industry are carried out equipment upgrades, the introduction of modern technologies and the expansion of the product range.
"Fresh Bread" project is successfully implemented in Kursk region, which includes JSC "Fresh Bread Project", JSC "Zheleznogorsk bakery", JSC "Rylsky bakery." In 2015, a new line for the production of crackers and donuts, with the capacity of 170 kg per hour, was installed at the production site in Kursk .
JSC "Kurskhleb" installed a new production line with the capacity of 10 tons of loaves a day.
Particular attention is paid to the development of the sugar industry. In 2015, more than 250 mln rubles were invested into the industry. At the end of the year it produced 354.5 thousand tonnes of sugar.
In the canning industry the modernization of the Experimental Plant of baby food, a branch of JSC "Wimm-Bill-Dann", iscontinued, the reconstruction of the boiler room has been done, a new line for bottlingof puree into "Doy Pack" packages with the capacity of 9,600 packages per hour (300 tons per month) has been commissioned.
LLC "Oboyan Cannery" is actively developing. At the sight, the reconstruction of the boiler room was completed, an Italian production line of aseptic products was installed, which allowed to increase the production capacity to the level of 2014 by 3 times.
A large investment project is realized by JSC "KONTI-RUS" in the confectionery industry. In October 2015, on the factory, a new modern production line of soft biscuit was put into operation, the total capacity brought to 139.5 thous tons per year. 25 kinds of new products were mastered.
An active work on saturating of the regional market of food is continued, the own sales network is developing. Currently in the city of Kursk andKursk region there are 350 branded shops and pavilions.
The work on the promotion of products outside the region is actively carried out, including St. Petersburg, Moscow, and also the Republic of Crimea, Kazakhstan, Belarus. The company exports products to the Republic of Moldova, Abkhazia, Israel and other countries. At the same time new markets are developedin Iran, Turkmenistan, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia, South Korea and China.
About 50% of made products are shipped outside the region. At the same time, export exceeds import by 2 times.
This year, special attention will be focused on the implementation of investment projects within the framework of the accomplishment of measures on import substitution:
– construction of slaughterhouse with a capacity of slaughtering pigs 1 million heads per year and meat production of 100 thousand tons per year (company "Agropromkomplektatsiya – Kursk") in Zheleznogorsk district. The volume of investments is about 10 billion rubles, the start is in the2nd quarter of 2016;
– construction of slaughterhouse with a capacity of slaughtering pigs of 300 thousand heads per year and meat production of 28 thousand tons per year ( "Global - Trade" Ltd.) in Shchigry. The volume of investments is more than 500 million rubles, the start is in the 2nd quarter of 2016;
– construction of plant for production of hard cheeses in Kursk (JSC "Kursk milk") capacity of 1200 tonnes per year. The volume of investments is 600 million rubles, starting in the 1 st quarter of 2017;
– construction of a complex for growing mushrooms (champignon) with capacity of up to 4 thousand tons per year (company "Mushroom Rainbow") inKursk region, investments of 1.5 billion rubles, starting in December 2016 - the 1 st quarter of 2017.
The current state of the sugar industry requires further major investments in new facilities and modernization of production in order to ensure the efficient processing of sugar beet.
In 2016 – 2017, investment companies PJSC "Mosneftegazstroykomplekt", LLC "United Confectioners", including the new owners ( LLC "CG" Prodimex", LLC CG "Rusagro", LLC "SR Humpback Horse") are planning to continue the modernization of sugar factories and begin the first stage of the reconstruction of Tetkinsky, Rylsky, Zolotuhinsky, Kshensky, Krivetsky, Belovsky sugar factories. This year, it is planned to spend about 1.7 billion rubles on the preparation of sugar factories to the production season, and ensure the productivity of sugar beet processing in the amount of 30 thousand tonnes per day compared to 26 thousand tons in 2015.
JSC "Konti-Rus" intends to continue the implementation of the investment project and ensure maximum capacity utilization. In 2016 it is planned to put into operation an auxiliary line for the production and transportation of sugar glaze.
In 2016 LLC "Agropromkomplektatsiya-Kursk" is planning to start construction of the feed mill with the capacityof 216 ths. tons per year in Zheleznogorsk district.
In 2016-2017, it is planned to spend within 7.7 bln rubles on the implementation of program activities, to create 950 new jobs.
The basis of ensuring the development of the region's economy is the railway and road transport.
Transport of Kursk region network includes 1524.3 km of railway lines, 7877.7 km of roads paved, 423.9 of which are federal.
The region's territory is crossed by two railway lines: Moscow-Kharkov and Kiev-Voronezh, there are 4 major railway junctions: Kursk, Lgov, Kastornaya, Rzhava and 54 railway stations.
The railway, running through the territory of Kursk region, connects Kursk with Moscow, St. Petersburg, Adler, Voronezh, Anapa and many other cities of Russia.
Eight commuter trains go through the city of Kursk, the main ones are: Kursk - Orel, Kursk - Kastornaya, Kursk - Lgov - Glushkovo, Kursk – Belgorod.
13.9% of trucking is made by the road transport, and 66.7% in the passenger traffic structure.
6 international bus routes and 89 coaches (including interregional) go through the territory of Kursk region, linking the downtown area with the cities of Kharkov, Sumy, Donetsk, Gomel, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tambov, Orel, Belgorod and others; 194 suburban bus routes connect rural communities with district and provincial centers.
The transportation of goods and passengers in the region is carried out by 21 transport enterprises of various organizational and legal forms, as well as 16 individual entrepreneurs.
"Kursk" International Airport , having a convenient geographical location, is able to provide the Central Black Earth region with transport links withdifferent cities of Russia and CIS countries. From the Kursk airport, there are regular year-round flights to Moscow, Mineral Waters, and seasonal flights to Anapa, Sochi, St. Petersburg.
The main operator of fixed telephony is the Kursk branch of OJSC "Rostelecom", which has more than 450 automatic telephone stations in the region. The total capacity of the station is about 300 thousand numbers. All district centers of the region are provided with the automatic long-distance telephone service.
As part of the disposal of the Government instructions of 03.26.2014 number 437-p, and the project "Bridging the Digital Divide" envisages the construction of fiber-optic communication lines to the 237 settlements in Kursk region with 250 and 500 residents for the purpose of installation of access points and provide residents service access to the Internet on the channel speed of at least 10 Mbit / s using multiple access funds.
Universal payphones with free emergency calls to "01", "02", "03" and "04" servicesare set in each settlement.
On the territory of Kursk region, there are 4 mobile (cellular) telephone operators:the Kursk branch of OJSC "VimpelCom",Kursk regional branch of OJSC "MTS", JSC "Kursk cellular» ( «Tele2 - Kursk"),Kursk regional branch of CBJSC "Megaphone".
Cellular operators are actively introducing new 3G, 4G mobile radio-telephone networks. In 2015, the operators of mobile telephone communications carried out work on the modernization of the existing network connection to provide expansion of the coverage zone in Kursk region, improving voice and increasing the speed of the Internet access. The ongoing modernization allowed the regions residents to enjoy fast mobile internet in all areas, and the residents of Kursk and Zheleznogorsk can use the Internet access with LTE technology.
The coverage of Kursk region by cellular communication is about 96%.
The management of the Federal postal service of Kursk region, the branch of FSUE "Russian Post", provides post services on the territory of the region.Kursk branch offers its customers more than 100 different types of both traditional postal and commercial services.
On the territory of Kursk region is functioning a digital broadcasting network, which has more than 200 thous. subscribers and covers more than 98% of the population of Kursk region. Since January 2015, the first multiplex network (packet RTRS-1) has been switched to a new more advanced DVB-T2 broadcast standard by the State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network". Work on the construction of distribution network of RTRS-2 package of channels (the second multiplex) continues. The construction of the second multiplex will be completed by the end of 2018. Currently, on the decision of the broadcasters, the second package (20 channels) is issued only by the air repeaters of Kursk and Zheleznogorsk, the other transmitters have been turned to the standby mode. Terms and Conditions of the switch-off of the analogue broadcast have not been established yet.
