Foreign economic activity

According to the customs statistics of the Central Customs Board, the foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region in the first quarter of 2018 was $ 603.48  million and increased by 21.3 % compared to the first quarter of 2017.

Exports of the Kursk region in the total volume of foreign trade turnover make 51.3% or 309.5 million US dollars (97.4 % compared to the first quarter of 2017); import deliveries — 48.2% or 120.6 million US dollars (163.6%).

The balance of foreign trade turnover of the region in the first quarter of 2018 was positive and amounted to 15.52  million US dollars.

Economic entities of the Kursk region traded with partners from 88 CIS and other foreign countries.

The main trading partners of the Kursk region in the 1st quarter of 2018 were:

CIS countries: Ukraine — 17.0 % of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region; Belarus —% 6.4; Kazakhstan — 5.1%;

Foreign countries: Switzerland — 15.8 % of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region; Slovakia — 10.6 %; Germany – 5.3%; Poland – 5.3 %; Latvia — 5.2 %;  China —4.2%; Italy — 3.0%.

The range of export supplies of the Kursk region is: iron ore and concentrates (36.6 % of total 12.6 %), machinery, equipment and vehicles (7.9%), metals and articles thereof (7.5%), textiles and footwear (5.6%), wood, pulp and paper products (1.5%), leather raw materials (0.3%); other goods (0.5%).

 

The economic entities of the region supplied goods to the CIS countries in the amount of $96.1  million. The dominant share in the volume of exports to the CIS countries is taken by supplies to Ukraine — 38.1 % of the total exports of the Kursk region); Kazakhstan — 21.1%, Belarus — 16.4%.The volume of exports to non-CIS countries in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to USD 213.4 million. The prevailing share in the volume of exports to foreign countries is occupied by supplies to Slovakia — 29.7% of total exports of the Kursk region to foreign countries, Latvia –14.8%, Poland — 12.0%, Germany — 9.3%, China – 7.0%.

Imports are: chemical products, rubber (45.2% of total imports); machinery, equipment and vehicles (24.1%); metals and metal products(10.0%); food products and agricultural raw materials (9.5%); wood, pulp and paper products (4.6%); textiles, textiles and footwear (3.4%); mineral products (1.8%); leather raw materials (0.1%); other goods (1.3%).
In the first half of 2018, goods were shipped to the Kursk region from the CIS countries in the amount of $ 101.96 million. The prevailing share in the volume of imports from the CIS countries is occupied by supplies from Ukraine — 65.0% of the total imports of the Kursk region from the CIS countries, Belarus — 22.2%, and Kazakhstan — 10.2%.
The volume of imports from non-CIS countries amounted to $ 192.02 million. The leaders in terms of deliveries to the Kursk region from foreign countries are Switzerland — 49.6% of the total imports to the Kursk region from foreign countries, Italy –7.0%, Germany — 6.3%, Australia — 6.0% , China — 5.4%, the Netherlands — 4.7%, Poland — 3.2%.
