Foreign economic activity

According to the customs statistics of the Central Customs Board, the foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region in the first half of 2017 amounted to 495.6 million US dollars and increased by 11.4% compared to the level of the first half of 2016. Exports of Kursk region in the total volume of foreign trade turnover occupy 64.0% or 317.2 million US dollars (159.7% against the level of the first half of 2016); import supplies — 36.0% or 178.4 million US dollars (72.4%). The balance of foreign trade turnover of the region in the first half of 2017 was positive and amounted to 138.8 million US dollars. Economic entities of the Kursk region carried out foreign trade activities with partners from 86 CIS and non-CIS countries of the near and far abroad.

The main trading partners of the Kursk region for the first half of 2017 were the following CIS countries: Ukraine — 92.0 million US dollars (18.6% of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region), Kazakhstan — 53.7 million US dollars (10.8%); Belarus — 35.1 million US dollars (7.1%); and foreign countries: Germany — 40.5 million US dollars (8.2%); China — 39.0 million US dollars (7.9%); Serbia — 33.6 million US dollars (6.8%); Slovakia — 33.2 million US dollars (6.7%); Hungary — 27.8 million US dollars (5.6%); Italy — 22.1 million US dollars (4.5%); Poland — 12.9 million US dollars (2.6%).

The range of export supplies of the Kursk region is: iron ores and concentrates (50.1% of total exports), foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials (14.9%), chemical products, rubber (11.6%), engineering products (10 , 6%), metals and articles thereof (5.9%), textiles and footwear (5.0%), timber and wood products (1.3%), leather raw materials (0.2%) , other goods (0.4%).

Import deliveries are machinery, equipment, vehicles (40.7% of total imports), chemical products, rubber (18.5%), metals and metal products (14.3%), timber and wood products (9.2%), foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials (9.5%), textiles and footwear (4.7%), mineral products (1.8%), tanning raw materials (0.1%), other goods (1.2%).

The economic entities of the region supplied goods to the CIS countries for $ 111.2 million. The dominant share in the volume of exports to the CIS countries is taken by supplies to Kazakhstan — $ 48.3 million (15.2% of the total exports of the Kursk region); Ukraine — 33.0 million US dollars (10.4%); Belarus — 15.9 million US dollars (5.0%). The volume of exports to non-CIS countries in the first half of 2017 was $ 206.0 million, including $ 33.0 million to Slovakia (10.4% of the total exports of the Kursk region); Serbia — $ 30.2 million (9.5%), Hungary — $ 26.6 million (8.4%), China — $ 28.5 million (9.0%) ; Germany — 17.6 million US dollars (5.6%); Turkey — 9.2 million US dollars (2.9%);
