Foreign economic activity

According to the customs statistics of the Central Customs Board, the foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region in 2018 amounted to $ 1203.6 million and increased compared to the level of 2017 by 11.9%.

Export deliveries of the Kursk region in the total volume of foreign trade turnover account for 56.7% or USD 682.6 million (109.7% of the 2017 level); import deliveries — 43.3% or $ 521.0 million (115.0%).

The balance of foreign trade turnover of the region in 2018 was positive and amounted to $ 161.5 million.

Economic entities of the Kursk region carried out foreign trade activities with partners from 92 countries of the near and far abroad.

The main trading partners of the Kursk region in 2018 were:

from the CIS countries: Ukraine — 19.3% of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region, Belarus — 8.1%, Kazakhstan — 5.7%;

from foreign countries: Slovakia — 10.5% of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region, Switzerland — 8.8%, Latvia — 5.4%, Germany — 5.2%, China — 4.6%, Italy — 3 , 8%, Poland — 3.4%.

The range of export supplies of the Kursk region are: iron ores and concentrates (38.4% of total exports); food products and raw materials (28.2%); chemical products, rubber (12.6%); engineering products (7.2%); metals and products from them (6.6%); textiles, textiles and footwear (4.8%); wood and pulp and paper products (1.4%), tannery (0.3%); other goods (0.5%).

Economic entities of the region delivered goods to the CIS countries in the amount of $ 222.7 million. The prevailing share in the volume of exports to the CIS countries is occupied by deliveries to Ukraine — 35.0% of the total exports of the Kursk region to the CIS countries, Belarus — 22.6%, Kazakhstan — 21.6%.
In 2018, exports to non-CIS countries amounted to US $ 459.9 million. The predominant share in the volume of exports to foreign countries is occupied by supplies to Slovakia — 27.4% of the total exports of the Kursk region to foreign countries, Latvia –13.9%, Germany — 7.9%, Poland — 7.0%, China — 6.9%.

Imports are: chemical products, rubber (35.2% of total imports); engineering products (29.8%); metals and products from them (12.2%); food products and raw materials (9.3%); wood and pulp and paper products (5.6%); textiles, textiles and footwear (4.3%); mineral products (2.1%); leather raw materials (0.1%); other goods (1.4%).
 At the end of 2018, goods were delivered to the Kursk region from the CIS countries in the amount of US $ 228.4 million. The prevailing share in the volume of imports from the CIS countries is occupied by supplies from Ukraine — 67.5% of the total imports of the Kursk region from the CIS countries, Belarus — 20.6%, Kazakhstan — 9.0%.
The volume of imports from non-CIS countries amounted to $ 292.6 million. The leaders in terms of deliveries to the Kursk region from foreign countries are Switzerland — 36.3% of the total imports to the Kursk region from foreign countries, Italy –12.3%, Germany — 9.1%, China — 8.0% Australia — 4.1%, the Netherlands — 4.0%, Poland — 2.8%.
