Foreign economic activity

According to the customs statistics of the Central Customs Board, the foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region in the first quarter of 2018 was $ 250.0 million and increased by 14.2% compared to the first quarter of 2017.

Exports of the Kursk region in the total volume of foreign trade turnover make 51.8% or 129.4 million US dollars (89.1% compared to the first quarter of 2017); import deliveries — 48.2% or 120.6 million US dollars (163.6%).

The balance of foreign trade turnover of the region in the first quarter of 2018 was positive and amounted to 8.8 million US dollars.

Economic entities of the Kursk region traded with partners from  82 CIS and other foreign countries.

The main trading partners of the Kursk region in the 1st quarter of 2018 were:

CIS countries: Ukraine — $ 48.6 million (19.4% of the total foreign trade turnover of the Kursk region); Belarus — 17.7 million dollars (7.1%); Kazakhstan — 13.2 million US dollars (5.3%);

Foreign countries: Switzerland — $ 21.8 million (8.7%); Slovakia — $ 19.6 million (7.9%); China — $ 16.3 million (6.5%); Poland — 16.0 million dollars (6.4%); Australia — 11.5 million dollars (4.6%); Latvia — 11.2 million US dollars (4.5%); Italy — 8.3 million dollars (3.3%); Germany — $ 8.2 million (3.3%).

The range of export supplies of the Kursk region is: iron ore and concentrates (28.8% of total exports), foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials (31.7%), chemical products, rubber (14.4%), engineering products (6 , 7%), metals and articles thereof (9.1%), textiles and footwear (7.0%), other goods (2.3%).

The economic entities of the region supplied goods to the CIS countries in the amount of $ 44.9 million. The dominant share in the volume of exports to the CIS countries is taken by supplies to Ukraine — USD 16.8 million (13.0% of the total exports of the Kursk region); Uzbekistan — 7.9 million (6.1%), Kazakhstan — 7.4 million (5.7%); Belarus — 6.4 million US dollars (5.0%).The volume of exports to non-CIS countries in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to USD 84.5 million, including:  Slovakia — 19.3 million US dollars (14.9% of the total exports of the Kursk region); China — 11.4 million US dollars (8.8%); Latvia — 11,2 million US dollars (8,6%);Poland — 11.0 million US dollars (8.5%), Serbia — 4.7 million US dollars (3.6%).
