The index of industrial production in the Kursk region in January-March 2017 amounted to 109.8% of the corresponding period in 2016 (100.1% in the Russian Federation), including 102.0% in the extraction of minerals (101.2 in the Russian Federation), 109.3% (99.2% in Russia) in manufacturing industries, providing electric power, gas and steam, 124.0% (101.3% in Russia), in water supply; water disposal, organizing of waste collection and its disposal, pollution control activities — 113.6% (94.9% in the Russian Federation).
The share of processing industries was 48.7% in the structure of goods shipped, works performed and services rendered by the enterprises of the industrial complex of the Kursk region; extraction of minerals — 25.7%; provision of electric power, gas and steam — 24.1%; water supply, water disposal, organization of waste collection and utilization, pollution control activities – 1.5%.
The main products in the extraction of minerals are iron ores of ferrous metals, non-metallic raw materials used in the construction industry (oxidized quartzites), common minerals (sand, clay, chalk).
The leading enterprise of economic activity «Extraction of minerals» is PJSC Mikhailovsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise, which is part of the Metalloinvest holding. They produce iron ore, blast furnace, sinter ore, iron ore concentrate, pellets, oxidized quartzites. Mikhailovsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise is the second largest complex for the extraction and enrichment of iron ore in Russia.
The increase in pellet production at Mikhailovsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise, as a result of the implementation of the investment project «Construction of the technological complex and infrastructure facilities of the burning machine No. 3», made it possible to increase by 2% overall in the «Mining» sector in Quarter 1, 2017.
Providing with electric energy, gas and steam; air conditioning
The performance indicators in the electric power industry are mainly determined by the plans of the Kursk NPP to repair and modernize the power units in order to increase safety and extend the period of their operation. In Quarter 1, 2017, electricity generation increased by 28%, which is mainly due to the fact that 4 power units of the power plant were operating in the reporting period, while in the comparable period of 2016 only 3 power units were in operation, as at the power unit No. 1 repairs were carried out on restoration of resource characteristics. As a result, the index of industrial production in the industry «Provision of electricity, gas and steam» was 124%.
The volume of shipped goods in processing industries in current prices increased by 10.1% to the level of 2016.
The greatest increase in the index of industrial production was recorded in the production of other vehicles and equipment — by 55.4%; in the production of computers, electronic and optical products — by 46.8%; in the production of leather, leather goods and footwear — by 44.8%; in the production of medicines and materials used for medical purposes — by 43%; in the production of textiles — by 40.3%; in the production of paper and paper products — by 5.2%; in the chemical industry — by 3.7%.
The index of food production in January-March 2017 was 111%. During the analyzed period, the production of in-kind beef, pork, meat and by-products of food poultry, sausage products, semi-finished meat products, condensed milk products, vegetable and vegetable-fruit juices for baby feeding, flour, sugar, mixed fodders and premixes, non-alcoholic beverages increased in real terms.
At the same time, the production of milk, cream, sour cream, cottage cheese, cream butter, cheeses, sour-milk products, cereals, bread and bakery products of non-durable storage, flour and confectionery products has been reduced.
- The index of agricultural production in January-March 2017 amounted to 103% of the corresponding period in 2016.
Livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight in farms of all categories 118.0 thousand tons (106.8% by 2016), milk — 61.9 thousand tons (101.4%), eggs — 27.2 million (101.8%).
In the agricultural organizations of the region in January-March 2017, livestock and poultry production for slaughter in live weight increased by 7.1%, milk — by 5.6%.
The number of cattle in farms of all categories at the end of March 2017 was 159.9 thousand heads or 1.8% less than in the same period in 2016, including cows — 62.1 thousand heads (for 4, 0% less). The number of pigs increased by 13.5% and amounted to 1,597.8 thousand heads, sheep and goats — by 2.9% (106.1 thousand heads).
In the region, the legislative basis for investment activity has been formulated, the Investment Strategy of the region has been developed until 2025, the Kursk Oblast Law «On Investment Activities in the Kursk Region» is in force, subordinate regulatory legal acts have been adopted, such as the subprogram «Creating Favorable Conditions for Attracting Investments in the Economy of the Kursk Region» of the program «Development of the economy and external relations of the Kursk region», state support is provided to investors in various forms; the Council for improving the investment climate and JSC «Agency for attracting investments in the Kursk region» are working.
Work is underway to establish industrial parks.
Over the years, the Srednerussky Economic Forum has been held in the region, attracting a large number of participants, including investors and entrepreneurs, which allows the Kursk business to find new partners and expand production volumes. On June 16, 2017, VI Central Russian Economic Forum was held in the Kursk region.
Since 2013, the largest enterprise of the Kursk nuclear power plant has been working on the construction of industrial, infrastructure and household facilities for the deployment of the construction of the replacement station of Kursk NPP-2. The investor is Rosenergoatom Concern.
The implementation of investment projects of large industrial enterprises continues, OJSC Pharmstandard-Leksredstva, Kurskkhimvolokno Ltd, OJSC Electroagregat, CJSC Kurskrezinotekhnika and others take part in it.
In the agro-industrial complex, large-scale investment projects are being implemented to build livestock complexes and processing enterprises in the districts of the region (LLC Agropromkomplekt-Kursk, LLC Agroindustrial Holding Miratorg and others).
The volume of investments in fixed assets in the first quarter of 2017 amounted to 12.7 billion rubles; the index of physical volume — 89.8% to the level of the first quarter of 2016.
In the 1st quarter of 2017, works on the type of activity «Construction» were executed in the volume of 5,946.7 million rubles (82.3% against January-March 2016).
In the region, residential buildings with a total area of 94.8 thousand square meters were commissioned or 78.3% to the level of the first quarter of 2016, including individual developers — 37.2 thousand square meters (74.7% of the level of the first quarter of 2016).
The construction of a residential village «Severny» in the city of Kursk continues (the developer is OJSC Kursk Plant Efficiency). In the first quarter of 2017, two residential buildings with a total area of 26.7 thousand square meters were commissioned.
On the territory of N. Medveditsky village council of Kursk district, the construction of a residential village «Moskovsky» is underway (the developer is LLC «Chef Invest»). In the first quarter of 2017, two residential buildings with a total area of 283.0 square meters were put into operation.
On the territory of Bondarevka village of Sudzhansky district (developer — LLC «Technology») are building 18 cottages of rental housing with a total area of 1.9 thousand square meters, the commision of which is planned in the second half of 2017.
The construction of social facilities continues in the region.
A new school is being built in the village of Medvenka in the Medvenskiy district for 650 people, the reconstruction of a secondary school for 280 people is being held in the village of Ksensky of the Sovietsky district.
In Kursk, the construction of 2 schools per 1000 seats is being carried out, with commissioning in 2018.
In January-March 2017, 50 trading, public catering and consumer services were opened and reconstructed; more than 240 new jobs were created.
In the towns and districts of the region, since the beginning of 2017, 100 trade fairs have been held, including those within the framework of the concluded Cooperation Agreements with other regions and states, as well as contracts with local commodity producers.
In January-March 2017, the retail trade turnover decreased by 0.6% (in January-March 2016 it decreased by 1.6%).
The turnover of public catering in January-March 2017 amounted to
1.4 billion rubles, with growth of 7.4% compared to January-March 2016.
Paid services to the population of the region in the amount of 13.1 billion rubles, with growth of 0.1% compared to January-March 2016 were provided.
The cost of a minimum set of food products in the Kursk region in April 2017 was 3183.6 rubles per person per month, which corresponds to 3 positions among the regions of the Central Federal District (3,872.49 rubles for the Russian Federation, for the Central Federal District – 3,982.68 rubles) .
Standards of living
In January-March 2017, money incomes per person amounted to 24.2 thousand rubles and increased by 11.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
In January-March 2017, an average monthly wage for the full range of organizations was 24.89 thousand rubles, an increase of 7.0% compared to January-March 2016. For the main types of economic activities, the average monthly wage for January-March 2017 amounted to: 23.3 thousand rubles in agriculture, an increase of 12.2%; processing industries — 24.1 thousand rubles with growth of 8.2%; construction — 25.4 thousand rubles with an increase of 15.7%; transportation and storage — 26.3 thousand rubles with growth of 8.1%; trade wholesale and retail, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles — 20.4 thousand rubles, an increase of 8.1%.
Overdue debt for wages in the range of economic activities observed by Kurskstat as of April 1, 2017 is absent.
Work and employment
As of April 1, 2017, the number of unemployed citizens registered with the employment service bodies was 6,097 people, of whom citizens with the official status of the unemployed were 5,649 people. Compared with the same date in 2016, the number of registered unemployed decreased by 24.7%.
The level of registered unemployment in comparison with the same period of 2016 decreased by 0.32% and in March 2017 was 0.99%.
